Alumni

We want to know what’s happening with our Starr’s Mill Alumni! That would include pictures, news about things they’ve done, and things they plan to do! Know any alumni who will be performing in a concert or recital, or appearing in a production in the near future? Let’s post it here! Know an alumni who has accomplished something amazing, interesting, or noteworthy? Post it here!

Please send your information to bobpage@smhsband.org.  Thanks!

Don Glidden (’12)… After graduation in 2011 I marched in the 2011 Spirit of Atlanta drum corps. Since then I started attending Jacksonville State University with a major in music education. While at JSU I have been marching with the marching southerners. In 2012 I marched in the London New Year’s parade as the leading band. While in the marching southerners we have
been to many places that have been incredible and marched in a couple great shows and have a lot more shows to look forward to. Brittany checked in with this to report: “I am currently attending the Savannah College of Art and Design. I originally auditioned and made base two for their drumline. However, they have a lack of cymbal players, so I volunteered to switch instruments. I am now  a cymbal player of the SCAD Drumline. I am currently seeking out my major in Animation and minor in Character Technical Direction.
Here is a photo (2/15/14) of a SCAD Day performance.

The drumline will be performing in Tybee Island’s (3/15/14) and in Savannah’s St. Patricks Day (3/17/14)  parade.

We were also featured in a contest for  a Coca-Cola commercial this past fall. Not only do I perform as a part of the drumline but I am also responsible for creating all the choreography and visuals for the cymbal line.”
